Systems Integration

What is Systems Integration

Systems integration is the process of linking together different computing systems and software applications physically and functionally. A system is an aggregation of subsystems communicating and cooperating so that the system is able to deliver the over-arching functionality. System integration involves integrating existing (often disparate) subsystems. The subsystems will have interfaces. Integration involves joining the subsystems together by “gluing” their interfaces together. If the interfaces don’t directly interlock, the “glue” between them can provide the required mappings. System integration is about determining the required “glue”.

What do we provide

We bring together subsystems and processes utilizing a variety of techniques such as computer networking, enterprise application integration, business process management or manual programming, using integration tools such as TIBCO BusinessWorks and Microsoft Biztalk. Further, we design and set up an appropriate Human-Machine Interface (HMI) for this purpose. We undertake systems integration projects for manufacturing facilities all over the world in various industries, e.g. in metallurgy, (wherein a vast array of hardware & software are required in their electro-refining tankhouse), for services such as kiosks for information points, public internet access, point of sale displays, and tourism information points as well as for hospitals . We provide the hardware such as PCs, Notebooks, PCLs, printers, etc., as well as the software such as integration systems, programming, multiple systems / subsystems interface, and Human-Machine Interface.
System integration is also about adding value to the system, capabilities that are possible because of interactions between subsystems.

An example of SI implementation in an electro-refinery
Increased throughput in a Copper Refinery

The upgrade - With real-time shop floor batch data available at each process line’s PLC/PC controller, real-time batch control and monitoring can be achieved – not only at the plant PWLD operator level, but also at the head-office enterprise computing level. As both the PAS (Product Accounting System) and FMS (Freight Management System) programs are Oracle-based applications, it was advisable to use Oracle software to create the plant operator data interface. A IBM System 595 server running Oracle 8 is chosen as the master PWLD server. This is connected via a plant-wide Ethernet LAN to the PWLD operator console – a client PC running ‘Oracle Forms.’ Located remotely from the refinery tankhouse, the operator console is the command centre for production batch scheduling. Local operator control is achieved at each line via an operator interface. A Data Highway link network affords the physical link between the PLCs and the industrial computers, allowing the PLCs to transfer real-time batch data to the PCs, while batch scheduling and control instruction data are sent from PC to PLC. The plant’s basic production processes – the raw anode preparation line, the anode scrap line and the two cathode stripping and bundling lines – are fully batch automated using PLC controllers. Further, the powerful bi-directional transaction capabilities of the Interface System now permit plant floor and enterprise computing to be linked with a minimum of fuss.

Systems Integration & EDRM for digital copiers & MFPs

Just when you thought it was safe to copy or print a document in the office, something comes along to shake your confidence. Back in the old days, a copier just copied what you put on the glass. As long as no one took your copies, your documents and your information were safe.

But these devices gradually became more sophisticated and with all of this new found functionality came some new risks. People eventually realized that this new copier is another computer on your network. It has a network card. It has a hard drive. It has an operating system. It has a user interface. It is accessible through a browser, just like a web server. It is vulnerable to the same security issues as any other computer. A user could potentially access anything stored on the hard drive, including all the documents, if security measures were not implemented. So now your simple copying and printing device is a security threat. We can ensure your digital copier or multifunction devices or peripherals (MFP) can do want you want it to do without being a security hazard, by using Enterprise Digital rights management (EDRM) tools & technologies and tailored programming. The demand for safer information sharing is also increasing dramatically as more organizations adopt Enterprise Content Management (ECM) systems. Existing security measures within ECM applications provide insufficient document protection when files are opened and shared with external third parties.

We at Crest Organics ensure that all scanned documents and copies are tracked, monitored & secured, and access & movement is restricted to authorised personnel and processes. Crest Industries will integrate copiers, printers and MFP technologies, and document management software and systems, to deliver tailored, high-value solutions. We will design and implement system integration for secure network printing to suit your organisation’s specific needs, by using digital copiers to achieve big savings.

We build and manage systems integration focused on document management to meet growing demand for comprehensive document lifecycle management and solutions. Crest Industries can integrate your digital copiers, printers, fax machines and network scanners into the local area network. Or if your small business doesn't have a network, we can design and build one for your office. You can maximize your assets by sharing files and systems through a local network or Virtual Private Network (VPN).

And along with the tailored software and systems integration, we also provide copiers and MFPs for optimum compatibility and smooth operation.

Audiovisual & multimedia integration solutions

Crest Industries has audiovisual integration expertise and we take pride in our ability to focus on our customers and the specific solutions they require, offering software and hardware as a solutions package. Crest Industries is a value-added integrator of, audiovisual solutions, video conferencing, private video networking, and streaming video for various requirements in business, training, retail, recreation, etc. Crest Industries works closely with its clients in order to successfully implement visual communication tools within their respective organizations, and has helped them to take advantage of the cost savings and numerous productivity benefits that audiovisual technologies offer.

Some types of AV Installations

  • Boardrooms and Conference Rooms
  • Training rooms / Classrooms for Corporate and Higher Education
  • Retail and Recreation
  • Auditoriums and Convention Halls
  • Executive Offices
  • Medical Offices and Facilities

Our audiovisual solutions provide all the capabilities needed through the use of various types of display systems (projectors, LCD or plasma), video conferencing systems, integrated audio systems, full room control systems and more. A fully integrated system allows you to increase the effectiveness and impact of meetings and presentations. We design and install audiovisual solutions for executive boardrooms, conference rooms and meeting facilities that help organizations communicate more effectively and efficiently.
We also integrate audiovisual equipment, video conferencing systems, and managed conferencing services for health care providers. All of our audiovisual solutions are based on open standards that accommodate multi-vendor interoperability and leverage existing network infrastructure. We work with all of our health care clients to help them maximize the return on their investment, while minimizing the total cost of ownership

We create a more compelling, interactive learning environment with audiovisual and video conferencing solutions. As costs have come down and reliability has increased, educators are discovering the value this technology can bring to the classroom environment. Video conferencing creates virtual meeting experiences so realistic, students and educators feel as if they are in the same room, even when miles apart. By allowing real-time, two-way interaction, video conferencing effectively simulates the experience traditionally obtained face-to-face in the classroom.

Service oriented businesses such as Hotels, Casinos, Resorts, Cruise Ships, Night Clubs, Bars and others use audiovisual solutions to broadcast helpful, targeted messages to members and guests.

Retailers of all types and sizes are already taking advantage of the benefits of digital signage maximizing the digital signage platform through in-store media networks providing customers targeted advertising projected on large screens, product information programming at the 'point-of-consumer,' providing visually and audibly-enhanced information when consumers are paying attention and ready to buy. We have worked with retail audiovisual installations and in-store screens, creating interactive media experiences for high footfall areas, resulting in improved sales.
